The meeting of the Interreligious Council of Russia (ICR) was held

On March 26, 2019, the next meeting of the Interreligious Council of Russia (ICR) was held in Moscow in the building of the General Church Postgraduate and Doctoral School named after Saints Cyril and Methodius.

The meeting was attended by members of the Presidium of the Interreligious Council of Russia: Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan Mufti Kamil Samigullin; Chief Rabbi of Russia (KEROOR) A.S. Shaevich.

The Board of Trustees of the Interreligious Council of Russia was represented by its Chairman, Head of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society S.V. Stepashin, President of the Palace Ryad Group of Companies M.N. Uryasov, Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the IRC O.V. Blyudov.

The meeting raised and discussed pressing and socially significant issues:

  • a bill on the requirements for anti-terrorist protection of religious sites;
  • holding a conference on the topic of traditional family values;
  • an initiative was announced to establish a medal of the Interreligious Council of Russia;
  • preparation of events dedicated to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War with the participation of representatives of traditional religions;
  • a planned trip of members of the Interreligious Council of Russia to Auschwitz to the site of one of the most terrible "herti camps" organized by the Nazis. It is proposed to time the visit to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the liberation of prisoners of the concentration camp by the Soviet Army;
  • the project "School of civic and legal education of Muslim youth and public opinion leaders", which is planned to be implemented in 2019;
  • preparation of the participation of the delegation of the Interreligious Council of Russia in the jubilee 10th Assembly of the World Conference of Religions for Peace, which will be held on August 20-23, 2019 in the German city of Lindau.

At the end of the meeting, Metropolitan Hilarion thanked all the participants for their constructive work.

Member of the Public Council under the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Ulyanovsk Region visited Pre-trial Detention Center No. 1

On January 17, 2019, as part of events dedicated to the Nativity of Christ and the New Year, traditional Christmas meetings were held with juvenile suspects and accused, women held in the institution, and convicts of the economic services detachment in Pre-trial Detention Center No. 1.

 

 

The program of the event included congratulatory words from the assistant to the head of the Department for Work with Believers, Archpriest Svyatoslav Erenkov, congratulations from the member of the Public Council of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Ulyanovsk Region, Mikhail Uryasov, First Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Ulyanovsk Region, Secretary of the Ulyanovsk Regional Branch of the United Russia Party, Vasily Gvozdev.

Together with the Deputy Head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Ulyanovsk Region, Aleksey Chitnev, and the head of Pre-trial Detention Center No. 1, Yevgeny Subbotin, the guests familiarized themselves with the educational process for minors, the conditions of detention of suspects, accused women, and convicts of the detachment for economic support. They also visited the canteen of the detachment for economic support, and the exercise yards.

Christmas and Epiphany are truly wonderful winter holidays that bring joy and fulfillment of desires into our lives. As Father Svyatoslav noted: "A person repents and stops sinning only when he finds some joy that is incompatible with sin."

According to good tradition, Father Svyatoslav and parishioners of the Holy Resurrection Cathedral, represented by Mikhail Uryasov and Vasily Gvozdev, presented minors, women and convicts of the economic service detachment with sweet gifts and sports equipment for sports, wished them spiritual strength and God's mercy, preservation of the true Faith of Christ and the best human ideals that have always been in Russia.
