On January 17, 2019, as part of events dedicated to the Nativity of Christ and the New Year, traditional Christmas meetings were held with juvenile suspects and accused, women held in the institution, and convicts of the economic services detachment in Pre-trial Detention Center No. 1.
The program of the event included congratulatory words from the assistant to the head of the Department for Work with Believers, Archpriest Svyatoslav Erenkov, congratulations from the member of the Public Council of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Ulyanovsk Region, Mikhail Uryasov, First Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Ulyanovsk Region, Secretary of the Ulyanovsk Regional Branch of the United Russia Party, Vasily Gvozdev.
Together with the Deputy Head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Ulyanovsk Region, Aleksey Chitnev, and the head of Pre-trial Detention Center No. 1, Yevgeny Subbotin, the guests familiarized themselves with the educational process for minors, the conditions of detention of suspects, accused women, and convicts of the detachment for economic support. They also visited the canteen of the detachment for economic support, and the exercise yards.
Christmas and Epiphany are truly wonderful winter holidays that bring joy and fulfillment of desires into our lives. As Father Svyatoslav noted: "A person repents and stops sinning only when he finds some joy that is incompatible with sin."
According to good tradition, Father Svyatoslav and parishioners of the Holy Resurrection Cathedral, represented by Mikhail Uryasov and Vasily Gvozdev, presented minors, women and convicts of the economic service detachment with sweet gifts and sports equipment for sports, wished them spiritual strength and God's mercy, preservation of the true Faith of Christ and the best human ideals that have always been in Russia.
