On March 26, 2019, the next meeting of the Interreligious Council of Russia (ICR) was held in Moscow in the building of the General Church Postgraduate and Doctoral School named after Saints Cyril and Methodius.
The meeting was attended by members of the Presidium of the Interreligious Council of Russia: Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan Mufti Kamil Samigullin; Chief Rabbi of Russia (KEROOR) A.S. Shaevich.
The Board of Trustees of the Interreligious Council of Russia was represented by its Chairman, Head of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society S.V. Stepashin, President of the Palace Ryad Group of Companies M.N. Uryasov, Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the IRC O.V. Blyudov.
The meeting raised and discussed pressing and socially significant issues:
- a bill on the requirements for anti-terrorist protection of religious sites;
- holding a conference on the topic of traditional family values;
- an initiative was announced to establish a medal of the Interreligious Council of Russia;
- preparation of events dedicated to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War with the participation of representatives of traditional religions;
- a planned trip of members of the Interreligious Council of Russia to Auschwitz to the site of one of the most terrible "herti camps" organized by the Nazis. It is proposed to time the visit to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the liberation of prisoners of the concentration camp by the Soviet Army;
- the project "School of civic and legal education of Muslim youth and public opinion leaders", which is planned to be implemented in 2019;
- preparation of the participation of the delegation of the Interreligious Council of Russia in the jubilee 10th Assembly of the World Conference of Religions for Peace, which will be held on August 20-23, 2019 in the German city of Lindau.
At the end of the meeting, Metropolitan Hilarion thanked all the participants for their constructive work.
